Decision And Implementation Of Data Warebouse In The Decision Support System For The Teaching Management

The application of teaching management system in universities is graduallyextending. Agreat deal of data about students、teachers and teaching situation has beenaccumulated in the system. But traditional information systems still stay on the stage ofon-line transaction processing, lack of the function of statistics analysis and decisionsupport, cannot mine and utilize the value hidden in the data. Teaching managementDSS based on data warehouse is the solution of above questions.The thesis studies the application of data warehouse in teaching management DSS,based on the data of teaching management system of Pingdingshan university. Thethesis has completed the following work: Firstly, it introduces the project background,and briefly expounds the relational theories of DSS and data warehouse. After userdemand analysis, this thesis studies and compares various kinds of data warehousesolution and DSS architecture, and give the scheme of this project: using Microsoft SQLServer2000as data warehouse solution and client/server frame as architecture. Inaddition, the thesis give logical model and physical model of data warehouse, andexhaustively discusses data granularity division and Meta data design. Finally, the thesisprovides realization method of physical data warehouse. Through SQL Server DTSpackage, realizes data extraction, transformation and loading. It also establish OLAPserver and multi-dimensional data set，and realize the data showing through MicrosoftExcel.The thesis has completed data extraction、transformation and loading about thestudent score analysis. Through data showing, the function of roundly understandingand analyzing student score is provided to teaching management personnel. Theconstructional idea of the project, the design and realizing method of data warehouseprovides reference value for other analogous systems.As decision support system involves more content, this thesis has realized thedesign and the construction of data warehouse，it needs to be further perfected in datamining in the future.
