With the development of high speed railroad and heavy transport, the state has put forward higher requirements of the locomotive traction performance. Whether the locomotive traction performance meets the design requirements should be proven through the traction test and locomotive traction tests were performed by traction test vehicle. Traction test is to test and transmission the performances of a test car (traction force, air cylinder pressure, traction motor voltage, current), verify and analyze the result of the experiment for further improvement and being put into production use.In the current traction data acquisition and transmission system, although the locomotive and test car data test between the wireless transmission has been put into practice, but the test car data from the transducer is transmitted to the signal acquisition machine via a cable, which will lead to the line connection be fussy, be easy to break and damage by external factor and be broken and damaged easily. So it will result in data loss and the reliability of data acquisition. In this paper, we put forward the wireless sensor network for collecting and transferring the test data, so as to achieve high efficiency of traction test.In the wireless sensor network, the ZigBee technology occupies a dominant position with its low speed, low power consumption, opening band and simple structure etc. Basing on analyzing of ZigBee network technology and protocol stack, comparing several solutions of network, selecting the system on a chip, using TI’s CC2530chip and aiming at the test locomotive needs The article designs a wireless sensor network to collect and transfer the traction data which is keyed to the need of test vehicle. The article also designs a data detection circuit, transplants and amends the Z-Stack agreement, finishes the soft design of nodes which are keyed to the need of wireless sensor node.
