The Role Transformation Of Journalist In Media Convergence Era

Recently media convergence has been the hot point in the media industry. The success of transfer from traditional media to media convergence depends on the transfer of journalist. It means that a traditional journalist should learn how to work for media convergence, and to be a convergence journalist.The most prominent feature of media convergence era is the convergence of boundary, such as the notation of dissemination, media, the subject of communication. This has changed the process of news production and dissemination, and the management of media group. In this case, journalists have to confront the new media revolution on their own innitiative, find their new role, and successfully transfer to a information communicators of multimedia and all media. In order to accomplish the goal, basic skills training is necessary. But if we want a fundamental change, then the way of thinking in convergence is essential. Either the master of skills or the way of thinking, this requires the efforts of journalist, media groups and institute of media.This article focused on "media convergence" and the "Reporter". First of all, the appearance and development of media convergence was described and summarised in a systematic way. Based on that, this article was trying to refine the change that media convergence has brought, and the challenge that reporters have to take. Combined with the change of news production in media convergence era and the concept of ripple information resources management in Dow Jones, the analysis of journalists and the new role it is going to play was under consideration. Then based on the research of "full media reporter" and the experience of Tampa News Center which is the outstanding example of media convergence, traditional journalists and new journalist are contrasted to pop out the new role of convergence journalists. And the training of new convergence journalists was discussed at the end of the paper.
