The impression of many outsiders of Gansu province is poorer、dry、desolate、 whirling loess、poverty and backward place. Admittedly, Gansu have such impression in some place, but not all so. That is the impression it is one-sided to Gansu, why a lot of people have such impression of Gansu province. Today, the media is so developed that we have around various convenient, diversified channels to have informations: newspapers, magazines, television, network and so on, to get some information of somewhere is not difficult. People even with a "global village" to describe the development of media to our profound changes, but why in the information so developed today, still appear to Gansu image so biased understanding? In Plato’s "cave" theory, we see such a phenomenon:holes bound prisoner of the hole of the activities of the puppet with people through light projection in the wall to the front projection as is real world, but when he walked out of the hole one day, and see the real outside world, he thought that see now is false, had ever seen the shadow is the real world. Based on the theory of inspiration, outsiders like bound prisoner, real Gansu like the hole of the world, and media like onto the shadow on the wall.? Outsiders often watch media projection images of Gansu province, and this is true, think this is true of Gansu province. This paper this hypothesis of the proposition, through the questionnaire survey to analysis the influence of Gansu province, outsiders media image cognition, and the relationship with the related visual culture theory:Benjamin’s mechanical duplication theory, the world is the world of heidegger’s grasp for image, and said, the society and so on landscape’s wave to analyze this phenomenon. Finally based on the investigation and analysis of the results, combined with the media event of the successful cases molding city image, put forward the spread of Gansu media image promotion strategy.
