Embedded graphic instrument system has increasingly become one of the mostimportant core technologies in the field of construction machinery. The traditionalpanel of construction machinery has many disadvantages such as low level ofintelligence, less information can be diaplayed, what’more, the pointer is easy to wearoff. So, it has been gradually phased out. Modern intelligence dashboard integrateddisplay of work information, machine parameter setting, fault diagnosis, remotemonitoring, entertainment media and other features, making construction machinerydashboard become high intelligence.In order to realize the high intelligence of dashboard of construction machinery, thedashboard system’s functional structure, hardware, software design and keytechnologies were discussed in this paper. And make full use of the conbining ofembedded software design and industeial design, designed an embedded graphicinstrument system of excvavtor.Firstly, the paper introduced the display principle of mulplane image processorbased on the requirement of high image quality of excvavtor’s dashboard. A newembedded graphic instrument system was given.Secondly, in order to solve the problems of low boot up, flicker and virtualinstrument pointer aliasing, the paper proposed anti flicker technology, quick boot uptechnical and pointer anti aliasing technology.Thirdly, the Renesas SOC chip SH7264which kernel is SH2A FPU was chosed asthe main chip. A high reliability hardware system was designed based on the basicrequirements of excvavtor’s dashboard. Varieties of functional modules wereanalyzed. LCD’s low voltage differential signal (LVDS) converting module and otherkey module were discussed in detail.Fourthly, the function requirements of dashboard and designed softwarearchitecture of dashboard’s system were researched in this paper. And the program Cwas used to develop program of dashboard. The program included drivers program and application program, where the underlying driver program was the design of thehardware module initialization and interface functions; Applications programincluded foreground and background application program.Finally, the paper optimized and debugged the program of function modules inorder to improve the reliability of software. It also detailed and formulated thecommunication protocol between dashboard and controller to improve efficiency andreliability.The paper developed an embedded graphic instrument system of excvavtor usingthe chip with image processor, explored software development method with imagelayering technology, considered electrical performance and electromagneticcompatibility of the dashboard, solved the problems of low boot up, flicker andvirtual instrument pointer aliasing. The dashboard has important value for enhancingthe value added of construction machinery and developing industry of constructionmachinery.
