With the development of remote sensing technology, the kind and amount ofremote sensing information is also growing rapidly, they are playing a more and moreimportant role in the fields of military, aerospace, aviation and navigation. DigitalEarth is an Earth coordinate-based virtual system with multi-resolution mass data andmultidimensional display function. Most geographic data in Digital Earth is measuredby means of remote sensing, so Digital Earth can be considered an application forshowing Earth remote sensing information. In this paper, the general display platformfor remote sensing information will support more common remote sensinginformation based on the Digital Earth. Overall, the general display platform forremote sensing information is a Digital Earth based open platform to display remotesensing information collected by the various types of remote sensors.The display of the remote sensing information is the key to the effective use ofremote sensing information. However, through a survey about remote sensinginformation display system both at home and abroad, it shows that the remote sensinginformation display system is generally designed for specific scenarios and fixedtypes of remote sensing information. There are shortcomings in versatility andscalability, it means that when the application scenarios change or the types of remotesensing information increase, the existing display system must make greatadjustments and updates in the aspect of structure to meet these needs.In order to solve the existing problems of remote sensing information displaysystem, the proposed general display platform for remote sensing information iscommitted to the improvement of the versatility and scalability. The platform refer tothe architecture and the operating mode of the Web browser when designed. Theremote sensing information markup language is proposed, which standardize all typesof remote sensing information. Based on the markup language, the remote sensingscenes can be organized to sensing information pages. The remote sensinginformation page has unified the information organization and display process. So that the platform is able to adapt to quick changes in remote sensing scene and data. Thegeneral display platform for remote sensing information can be divided into remotesensing information browser, remote sensing information server and remote sensinginformation database. Remote sensing information browser is responsible for thedisplay of the remote sensing information, remote sensing information server isresponsible for remote sensing data pre-processing and publishing, remote sensinginformation database is responsible for remote sensing data storage and data retrieval.During the realization of the general display platform for remote sensinginformation, the great amount of data of remote sensing information has causeddifficulties in the deployment, publish and display work. The paper will show youhow to overcome these challenges in details. Furthermore, the platform hasintroduced the stereo display technology on the basis of three-dimensional display,which enhances the showing effect of the platform.Finally, this paper introduces the application of the general display platform forremote sensing information in engineering practice, which is satellite monitoringsoftware developed on the basis of general display platform. Different from that of thegeneral software development, the main task of this development is to make remotesensing information page which contains the scene to be displayed based on remotesensing information markup language. In the fact of that the release, parse and displaywork of the pages is completed by the display platform, the development work hasbeen simplified, which reflects the practical value of the platform.
