Display is one of the significant social functions of museums, as well as the direct and fundamental communication media between audience and museums. With the background of new type museums being intensively constructed in China and the opening of newly-built Inner Mongolia Museum, viewed from exhibit characteristics and consulted nowadays research achievements, the author performed a systematic study on typical exhibits on ethnic history, hopes it could be beneficial.First of all, the author analyzed the basic concepts and attributes of cultural relics. The study reviewed and observed Inner Mongolia Museum's relics in the long history of ancient northern grassland, and defined the basic principles of display theme and structure through dissecting attributes of relics. Then taking "people-oriented" into consideration, the author emphasized that museums shall provide a relaxing and pleasing cultural & entertainment journey for the general public , promote evolvement of their aesthetic consciousness and self-awareness and help with the audiences' inspiration from the historical meanings of ethnic cultural relics. Based on that exhibits displaying concepts, the author set the displaying theme of Inner Mongolia Museum to be "Grassland Culture" , and structured the model of six basic displays and four special displays. It tried to develop and analyze how to unify and integrate exhibition's content and form in the paper, in consideration of 10 displays' common design requirements and identical design plans.In the end, the author analyzed concisely different visitors' viewpoints, discussed the evaluation to the exhibits, and come to the conclusion, i. e. museums should break conventional ideas and update their concepts, in accordance with the principle of "people-oriented" , transform the scientific research achievements into displays and also other cultural products, and provide agreeable experience, memories and win public praises with interactive media, and finally create even more social benefits.
