The embedded video monitoring system uses embedded technology, video encodingtechnology and network communication technology as the core.Compared to thetraditional video monitoring systems, it has salient advantages such as low cost, small size, compact structure, good scalability and stable performance. As a result, it has broadapplication prospects and market demand. In this context, this paper carried out a researchof video monitoring system based on ARM11.This paper first analyzed the development process, application and research andfuture trends of the video monitoring system, designed the hardware platform of theembedded video monitoring system based on S3C6410according to the functionalrequirements, constructed the embedded Linux development environment, researched theprocess of building cross-compiler environment on the host and how to port the systemboot code--U-Boot and the embedded Linux kernel to the target platform. In addition, thispaper discussed the method to build the root file system with Busybox. The paper detailedthe realization of the functions in application program such as video capture, LCD display, taking videos and photographs, the playback of image files and the network transmissionof images, and completed the device driver design of the video A/D conversion chip andLCD screen under the Linux system. This paper used Qt/E4.7as the tools of developingthe embedded Graphical User Interface(GUI), analyzed the unique signal-slot mechanismof Qt, discussed the fine features of the new version of Qt/E and the method totransplant it to the embedded development board and completed the design anddevelopment of the GUI application program of the monitoring system on this basis.
