Along with the rapid development of information technology, in the short few decades, internet technology has changed the era at an unprecedented speed. Internet Thinking is also quietly transforming traditional industry, for example we can see that, the intelligent hardware continues to heat up in the wave of the Internet developing, which has been regarded as the new entrance of the Internet by insiders and has become a new important technology concept after the "smart phone". Just like the smart watch, smart bracelet and other intelligent products, the effort of applying the Internet Thinking to the traditional video monitoring technology, is also the direction of research and development in recent years.This thesis attempts to emphasize on the design and realization of the embedded ARM video acquisition and transmission technology. Including using the embedded microprocessor S3C6410 and the experiment board with some peripheral interface circuit, to build the hardware platform of video acquisition and transmission; taking the current popular embedded Linux operating system for the software development platform; basing the transmission of video data on Wi-Fi network, achieve a portable wireless video monitoring function. The overall train of thought and design scheme of the embedded ARM video transmission is as follows:(1) Building the hardware platform of the embedded Linux system and the function of some peripheral interface circuit and the overall design of the hardware platform are introduced. Building the software platform of embedded Linux system and the working principle of Linux operating system and software development of the cross compile environment, and loading process of boot loader, embedded Linux kernel cutting and transplantation, and transplantation of file system making are introduced.(2) In further analysis on the basis of the principle and the working mechanism of CMOS camera, combining with Linux video41inux2 APIs library function, has designed the functions that embedded Linux system on the video image acquisition, decoding, display and store the video data.(3) Based on the in-depth analysis of the socket technology in the Linux network programming and WIFI data transmission mechanism, in the communication range of wireless LAN, through the point to point communication mode of WIFI module, the network transmission of video data is realized.In the end, in the communication range of wireless LAN, through constructing the experimental platform for testing and verification, software based on embedded Linux system running stability. In each frame image pixel is 320 X 240 format, video acquisition terminal can achieve 20 frames per second of video data collection. It run well that the network transmission of video data, The receiving terminal display the video is fluency. The PSNR performance analysis of the send and receive image, the results show that the transmission quality of the video stream is high and the distortion is less.
