Application requirement of ice prevention and de-icing technology is increasingwidely, gradually penetrated from field of aviation security into daily production and life,and advanced icing detection technology is the premise and key of high reliability iceprotection system. Face the challenges of foreign technology blockade and our start ofresearch and development relatively late in this field, we should promote independentR&D of innovative technologies, and continue to accelerate and improve the existingtechnical engineering work.The SOPC ice detection system based on FPGA technology with embedded hard IPcore or soft IP core has many advantages like simple, reliable, high performance,low-power dissipation, easy to upgrade without changing the circuit, designplatformization of hardware and software, short development cycle and quick marketreaction and so on. Use FPGA as the design core is the best choice for optimization andupgrading of the existing ice detection system.This thesis is a preliminary study of Technical Solutions of the icing detection, whichis mainly based on the FPGA platform. To begin with, the current realization principlesof the ARINC429avionics data bus was analyzed and compared. We put forward a newhighly modular icing detection system that based completely on field programmable gatearray from the original icing detection system. After the detail design procedure of allhardware for the whole system, Receiver controller, transmitter controller of ARINC429bus and ADC controller were designed with the use of Verilog hardware descriptionlanguage. The result of simulation shows the design is correct. Adopting these threecustom defined peripherals and a soft-core processor NIOS II which embedded in FPGA,the SOPC icing detection system was integrated. And according to ice detection systemsrequirements, we achieved basic functions of data acquisition and preprocessing,communications control and convert. The research outcomes will expand the applicationof convergence of the icing detection system, to improve the overall technology level onicing detect occasions, and for sure to provide a solid technical support for speeding upthe product engineering progress.
