With the development of socio-economic and increase of business investment strengthon the aviation industry,China’s aviation industry has developed rapidly in the recentyears. In particular, the establishment of large aircraft project marked that the developmentof China’s aviation industry came into a new phase of rapid development. While theresearch on the related key techniques was put on the agenda, such as aircraft de-icingtechniques which affect the safety of aircraft flight and are given much attention byaviation scientists. Aircraft icing detection technique is the key of de-icing techniques, andresearchers all around the world have developed icing detectors based on various kinds oftheories with enthusiasm. Icing detector based on image technique is a new type of icingdetection technique, with many advantages such as information-rich, high precision andstrong anti-interference, etc.In this Thesis, introduces basic principle of image processing was researched, and onthis basis, the image-type icing detection system based on image edge extraction wasdesigned. With the rich experience of research on icing detection in laboratory andabundant simulation, the image-type icing detector was designed with the advantages ofeasy installation, high water droplets capture feature and non-affect to the aerodynamiccharacteristics of aircraft. Through the camera imaging studies, a kind of macro camerawas selected to get the icing images. And designed icing calculation algorithm with thecore of adaptive threshold for fitting a straight line and dual-threshold method, which isused to process the icing images and calculate the icing information. And, built theARM9+Linux embedded systems was built to be the platform for image processing.Finally, a lot of system simulation experiments was designed to verify the algorithms ofcollecting calibration line and icing computation, and the system anti-interference abilityof the background light. The results showed that: the system has high precision, highsensitivity and strong anti-interference ability.
