ARINC429 bus is widely used in modem aviation industry which is the main mode of aeronautical information transmission. It defines the data transmission standard of the avionics including the communications on both system to system and system to unit. The application of ARINC 429 has significantly improved the versatility, reliability and flexibility of the avionics, which had a great influence on the overall avionics system. The reliability and stability of ARINC429 bus, as a crucial part in the integrated avionic system, becomes more significant. In the meantime a large demand of the detections and communications of ARINC429 bus signal appears in the development and recondition of aircraft avionics, which makes the research on ARINC429 card more and more important.We got the theoretical basis of the task by studying the ARINC429 bus protocol specifications. A design of ARINC 429 PCI Card based on FPGA was proposed after the research on the development of ARINC 429 card at home and aboard. As we know, PCI bus which is easy-to-use and low-cost has fast transmission speed. And FPGA can be configured and used flexibly, merely with a short development cycle. All this characteristics make the PCI card satisfy the requests, have high-performance, it is low-cost.The hardware design and the logic design are the two important parts of the task. The hardware design consists of the design of PCI interface circuit, FPGA circuit and ARINC 429 communication circuit. We also discussed the signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility in the hardware design. Verilog HDL was used in the logic design which can be used not only in logic design of all levels but also in logic synthesis, simulation and timing analysis. The logic design makes the peripheral circuit design easier. In the end, the ARINC429 PCI card with 6 independent T/R channels was designed and the transmission speed can be set at 12.5kbps or 100kbps.The test results indicated that the PCI card satisfied the requirements of design, and performs well. This card which has efficient transmission speed can be used in practices.
