Icing Detection System For Aircraft On Airport Ground

In cold weather, the aircraft staying in the airport is easily to be freezed. Althoughmeasures to remove ice are done before the aircraft takes off and due to lack of advancedground icing detection methods, the situation that aircraft takes off with frost, snow or icehappens sometimes, which seriously threatens the flight safety of the aircraft. The currentice detecting sensors in use are fixed on the aircraft, mainly for detecting ice when theaircraft flies in the high air, but few are used in the aircraft ground freezing detection.Along with the rapid development of civil aviation, the problem to detect the groundfreezing on the aircraft is urgently to be solved.In this thesis, the aircraft ground icing detection system is researched and designed.Firstly the theory of optical fiber icing sensors, multisensor data fusion and weak signaldetection are introduced, and then the bottom hardware and top PC software are designedin detail basing on the previous theory: In the bottom hardware multisensor, signalcondition circuit and sampling modules are designed, which realizes the changes from theweak icing status on the sensors to the notable voltage signals on the sampling modules.while in the top PC software the communication module, database module, data handlingand human-computer interface are designed, which deal with the voltage icing signal thatis transmitted by the bottom hardware, provide nice human-computer interface, showcurrent icing status and save the experiment data to the database. Finally the icingstandardization and confirmation experiments for the icing detection system arecompleted.The believable result of the icing experiments proved that this system is able to detectthe aircraft ground icing and can basically identify the icing type and detect the icingthickness.
