While the development of the technology in electronics offers extensiveapplication of data collection and processing systems in radar, communications, remotesensing and other fields, such advancement requires more efficient data collection andprocessing systems.This thesis describes a high speed real time lidar acquisition and processingsystem based on FPGA. Based on the application of Lidar, A/D data acquisition withhigh speed and accurary, high speed photon counter and gigabit Ethernet system arerealized in this study. High performance chips including EP3SL150F780C3, ADS5474and88E1111are used in hardware system design. Photon counter module, AD dataacquisiton and Nios II system are included in FPGA board design, which realizes aphoton counter count rate of400MHz, AD data acquisiton sampling rate of400MSPSand A/D conversion accuracy of14bits. The control of photon counter module, ADdata acquisition module, and gigabit Ethernet data transmission is realized through thehardware and software design by using Nios II system.In this thesis, the photon counter and data acquisition were integrated to grant thegeneral application in Lidar. The speed counter rate and sampling rate have reached400MHz, improving the performance of Lidar system. Gigabit Ethernet datatransmission enables the fast and stable data transfer of Lidar data. The FPGA basedsystem describes in the thesis has generated high integration and easy expansion of thefunctions.
