In the modern warfare, the importance of each new band or high performance radar and electronic detection system is receiving various countries' attention gradually. In these system development and validation stage, there is an urgent need for a data acquisition system which can acquire radar echo signal in the outfield experiments. The equipment also provides an effective tool and technique for studies on radar echo signal characteristics and new processing algorithms.The current radar data acquisition system, the majority of which is based on PCI bus, is less flexible and high-cost. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop a portable, low-cost, high-speed radar data acquisition system.In the view of the modern radar intermediate frequency echo signal's characteristic, the development cycle, development costs, the existing technical accumulation and other factors, an implementation scheme of radar IF signal acquisition and transmission system is proposed, accomplished and tested in this paper. The primary function of the system is to achieve the radar IF signal high-speed acquisition, high-speed buffer, high-speed transmission and high-speed storage.The radar IF signal acquisition system discussed in this paper is to use high-speed A/D sample the data, using DDR buffer acquisition data, sending the data with the MAC integrated in the FPGA to the Gigabit Ethernet to achieve high-speed data acquisition and long-distance transmission. At the other end of the network, the acquisition control computer real-time captures the transmission data in the Gigabit Ethernet and saves to the hard-disk.From system's hardware, FPGA logic, the data storage control software three parts, this paper introduces this data acquisition system's principle and method in detail, and finally gives the testing result. Proved through the experiment, this data acquisition system can achieve 60MB/s data flow of radar signals' high-speed acquisition, high-speed transmission and high-speed large-capacity storage continuously.
