In recent years, with the fast developing of smart phones and3G network, the application processor (AP) need to cooperate with baseband processor (communicate processor or CP) of the smartphone as WCDMA,TDSCDMA and CDMA2000exist at the same time in China. So the development of the communicate interface of application processor and baseband processor is more and more important.The current communicate interface can’t satify the request of AP and CP in current hardware design as the limitation of communicate interface. I analyze the details of advantage and disadvantage and point that SDIO is a good choice using as the communicate interface between AP and CP.This paper use the SDIO interface as the communicate interface between AP and CP. Design and develop the hardware line and timing control in order to synchronize the status of AP and CP. As both the data channel and AT channel existed in this project, in order to make sure the stabilization of different data channel, we need to develop MUX protocol on this project. Design the details of software process of MUX and the detail achievement on this platform. This project not focus on some software operater system, but all the design and development are base on Android2.3.Already did mass of validation and test after we use SDIO as the communicate interface between AP and CP. The product use this technology already release to shipout.
