With the successive establishment of mesoscale automatic weather stationsthroughout the nation, the corresponding automatic data operation system also appears.Most of these operation systems are built in a single B/S structure. As both of theirprocessors and data bases are put in the provincial bureau, only the operators of theweather station are accessible to statistics of weather through the VPN LAN, while thepubic and decision makers of relevant departments cannot share this information.People need a new platform to get and analyse these statistics, and thus obtaining livingtips related to weathers. The platform system introduced in this paper is developed inthis background.The operation platform of automatic weather station, introduced in this paper, isoperated on the basis of the MS-SQL Server and NET Framework and designed withGIS technology. This platform is applied with modern database technology and networktechnique to manage the large amount of information of the automatic station; besides,it is available to the information management system managing the meteorologicalinformation stored in the station. The operation platform, constructed and developed tomeet the needs of operation work, comprises the data center, operation platform ofpublic data and that of decision-making data. First of all, a data center should bedesigned in MS SQL database system technology. This center undertakes the data inputand data management of the automatic station to create a geological informationdatabase living up to the need of GIS function. Secondly, in order to overcome thedefect of the former platform, this system, taking the database center of the automaticstation as the core, applies both the B/S and C/S model as well as the Visual Studio.NETto design2data application platforms based on the GIS technology for the automaticstation. Of the two platforms, the first is the B/S platform, fulfilled with ASP.NET,Javascript, HTML, IIS and other modern network and webpage techniques, which isavailable to the Internet and is used to meet the public need for meteorological information;the other is the C/S platform, fulfilled with VB.NET, Web Service and other techniques,which is designed for the application developer of the automatic station. As it has more functions and higher operating speed, it can meet the staff’s or decision-makers’ needsof developing and applying data of the station as well as decision-making.When completed, the platform consists of three parts, i.e. the data center, B/Swebpage platform of and C/S desktop platform. The statistics in the database of theautomatic station is managed by the data center. The public get the meteorologicalinformation from the B/S webpage platform, while the meteorological operator anddecision-maker do analytical work and undertake decision-making on the C/S desktopplatform, so that the problems of lacking municipal auto station, low-efficiency,inconvenience and no channel for social share of meteorological data are solved, inaddition, both the localization and information sharing of meteorological resources arefulfilled.
