Urban Newspapers News Reports The Status Quo, Problems And Countermeasures Of Science And Technology Research

At present, as the primary productive force, science and technology is making a great contribution to national economies. The state attaches importance to the development of high-tech industries unprecedentedly from a strategic point. It has published a series of policies and regulations to increase the scientific advocacy and popularity. In the process of promoting the science communication, newspapers play a very important role. To a large extent, it is an important channel for ordinary people to access to information and new knowledge.For metropolitan newspaper, it always includes all kinds of information, and the widest range of person always read it. So how to conduct science and technology news coverage in the macro environment; in the process of selecting topics, it shows what kinds of bias an what is the overall features; which role these reports played on the enhancement of the public scientific literacy; how to improve science and technology news report level, this is a research topic with great significance.Taking Xi’an for example, the author intends to use the content analysis to analyze the science and technology news coverage which appeared in the metropolitan newspaper, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods., deeply analyzing the science and technology coverage in Xi’an metropolitan newspaper from the number of reports、the theme of reports、the content report、the report position、the reported sources and so on. The purpose of this paper is to outline the general characteristics of Xi’an metropolitan newspaper in science and technology coverage. On this basis, for the problems we encountered in the process of analyzing, we attempt to make reasonable suggestions, as well as provide references and suggestions for improving the science and technology reports level.The study found:in the region metropolitan newspaper, the topics of the science and technology news reports is very wide; the content is paying more attention to the spread of scientific knowledge; focusing on authoritative sources of reference sources; the reported position is always objective and neutral, with few subjective evaluation. To some extent, it fulfills the responsibilities of the media dissemination of knowledge. But at the same time, there are certain problems. Embodied as follows:on the issue, the reports are multiple but uneven, many important issues are not given sufficient attention, such as there are very few reports about scientific and technological character, some world issues such as environmental pollution, energy crisis, the negative effect of science and technology on the social dimensions aren’t taken seriously; for the contents,the reports stress the scientific knowledge, the spirit of science and scientific method is seldom involved; the reproduced rate is very high; the media is lack of self-recovery capacity and questioning spirit; the form of reports is not livelyFor this, in the end of paper the author gives some suggestions from two aspects:media editing operations and the quality of personnel from the news media reporters and editors. Given these specific measures, the author hopes it would be helpful for improving the level of science and technology reports.
