With the development of technology and raised demands of industrial production, mechanical equipment becomes more and more complicate. In the industries of metallurgy, petrochemicals, electricity etc., breakdown of large-scale equipment and key equipment causes huge losses. Therefore, condition monitoring and fault diagnosis are essential for equipment maintenance.The rapid development of computer network technology makes the building of enterprise’s network and information system highly possible, which lays the foundation for study and development of equipment remote online monitoring system. The shortages of existing condition monitoring systems developing methods are duplication development and difficult to transplant. However, by applying software architecture theory in the system development, it is possible to overcome those shortages.This dissertation is supported by equipment condition monitoring project of a railway bureau. Based on condition monitoring theory and software architecture theory, this dissertation has study the software architecture of equipment remote online condition monitoring system (EROMS). A domain model of EROMS has been abstracted by requirements analysis, and software architecture of EROMS is modeled by unified modeling language (UML). According to the architecture, the real-time data acquisition subsystem has been developed on Lab VIEW platform; remote data monitoring subsystem has been developed on Microsoft Visual Studio.NET2010platform. They constitute a complete equipment remote online condition monitoring system. EROMS has been deployed in the railway bureau and extended into other remote online condition monitoring projects mills in a steel plant and reciprocating compressor in a petrochemical company. The successful application shows that EROMS meets the requirements of business equipment remote online condition monitoring, and the development and design methods of the system are reasonable and effective.
