Enjoying such advantages as presenting information directly and vividly, breaking through regional limit and realizing data sharing and fusion to the largest extent, Web3D is the new developing direction of current scientific visualization. As the development trend, application of Web3D to highway construction is of great significance. Comprehensively based on theories and methods of computer network technology,3D graphics engine technology and highway alignment design, this thesis explores such key issues such as construction of3D visualization platform for highway network, real-time dynamic3D modeling, visualized information inquiry and real-time switch of3D scenes, and finally develops highway construction visual progress system which is based on Web3D technology, which realizes3D visualized management of network of construction progress and engineering change. The major research aspects and achievements are as follows:(1) Based on Segmentation-Merging and Bounding Volume Trees, this thesis adopts OCX and Open Scene Graph to realize real-time dynamic3D modeling and organization and management of large-scale3D scenes.(2) Based on MVC design pattern and modular programming and by means of B/S network architecture and ASP.Net, this thesis creates network information platform and embeds into it the completed OCX, and finally constructs3D visualized platform of highway network.(3) Based on3D modeling mechanics designed by MVC, this thesis builds real-time dynamic3D models of construction progress and engineering change according to the renewal of mass progress and changing information from remote Oracle database, and realizes the real-time switch of3D scenes of construction progress and engineering change by means of Javascript and Switch technology.(4) By means of ToolTip technology, this thesis constructs interconnection mechanism of progress change information and3D model and thus realizes visualized inquiry of construction progress information and engineering change information in highway3D scenes. The highway construction visual progress system developed in this research has now been successfully applied to the construction and operation of highways from Changde to Jishou, liling to Chaling, and Guangyuan to Bazhong, and the section of Qingdao-Lanzhou highway in Hebei Province.
