Along with the rapid development of Internet Multimedia technology, people arepressing hope to browsing web pages including more information and more vivid effects.Whether in application fields of electronic commerce and interactive game or in researchfields of graphics and images, Web3D modeling plays an important role as an intuitivemethod on reflecting the external performance and the internal attributes of objects. To aWeb3D virtual reality scene, the clarity of objects and the fluency of interaction are thetwo most important factors on affecting users’ experience. They are both constrained bythe performance of the modeling algorithm. As a result, in the situation of limit bandwidthand hardware condition, it’s the top research target to bring out an efficient modelingalgorithm on improving the users’ experience.First, analyses and compares the advantages and disadvantages of current common3D modeling algorithms respectively, effectively combines GBMR (Graphics-BasedModeling and Rendering) method and IBMR (Images-Based Modeling and Rendering)method to build a web3D scene system. By adopting their advantages, and asking help forthe way of external modeling, add models into the scene through GBMR method andutilize cylindrical projection and blanking from IBMR to build the scene. So the renderingload of engine is reduced and the efficiency of modeling is improved. Meanwhile, aoptimized strategy of cylindrical projection and blanking is put forward, which saves anduses the last information of projection to bring down the number of models needed to bere-projected, reduce the complexity of algorithm, enhance the speed of interaction.Basing on the expansion to the front-end system of Virtual Experiment Platform,relevant test cases which includes two groups of scenes. for the Web3D modelingoptimization algorithm based on cylindrical projection are designed. One group is forbuild-in models of engine, and the other is for outreach models. Then, the optimizationalgorithm is compared with the algorithm of PaperVision3D directly modeling, thealgorithm of no-excluding cylindrical projection and existed other Web3D systems fromthe theory of rendering complexity and the max frame rate during operation. Finally, testresults show that the max frame rate of Web3D modeling optimization algorithm based oncylindrical projection declines slowest with the rising of complexity of the scene. Thealgorithm performs best on the construction of complex scene.
