Nowadays, transportation has become an indispensable part of social and economic development. The emergence of the superhighway has increased the car streaming density and the vehicle’s velocity greatly. But the followed are the traffic accidents and safety problems. Automobile anti-collision radar can effectively prevent collision accidents, so the research has been widely concerned for its important realistic significance and widely application foreground. As important component of automobile anti-collision radar based on impulse, the pulser and antenna are studied in following parts.Firstly, this thesis reviews the background and significance of automobile anti-collision radar, as well as the domestic and foreign and the development direction. By comparing the designs based on different principle, the Impulse radar shows superior performance in the applications. In addition, this thesis introduces the concept of impulse radar and development situation in the world wide, as well as its system index requirements and general structure when applied in automotive anti-collision radar application.Secondly, the author does some research on pulse signal, including device and method of narrow pulse generator. Then, this thesis gives a detailed design about two types of pulse source. One is based on Avalanche Transistor Marx Circuit, the circuit principle analysis and circuit board structure are given, and a pulser which outputs monocycle pulse with300ps peak to peak width is design. The other pulser is based on step recovery diode (SRD). Through the simulation of several circuits, a pulser outputs300ps peak to peak width monocycle pulse, in which LC oscillation network is used as excited signal of SRD, has been designed. The measured results agree with the simulation results.Lastly, several ultra wideband antenna (UWB) are introduced. A Impulse radiating antenna (IRA) has been designed based on the commercial software (CST MWS), the characteristic parameters of the proposed antenna including geometries, receiving waveform, directional diagram are given, and the influence of antenna parameters and processing structure on receiving waveform has been discussed. Finally, the proposed is fed by actual pulser, the reasonable simulation results are obtained.
