With the development of society, the car crash has become a community-wide concern. In all automotive collision avoidance radar, millimeter-wave radar become a mainstream technology for automotive collision avoidance radar because of its bandwidth, high resolution, small size and the advantages of the work around the clock in recent years, and millimeter-wave radar are widely used in military and civilian areas. Due to the equipment limitations of past technologies and devices, the domestic research on millimeter-wave radar most concentrated in the40GHz band.As the technology matures and equipment advances, the60GHz band millimeter-wave with its wider bandwidth, higher resolution got more extensive attention. In this paper, we discussed a60GHz linear frequency modulated continuous wave dual mode automotive collision avoidance radar; it can work in ranging velocity mode and communication mode and has a broad market prospect. In this paper, we did some in-depth research in its platform circuit design, hardware implementation and signal processing algorithms.We designed the overall program of60GHz linear frequency modulated continuous wave dual mode automotive collision avoidance radar, and analyzed the radar RF front-end selection, parameter settings, and the selection of the device and so on. On this basis, we designed the signal acquisition circuitry, signal processing circuit, power circuit. For dual-mode radar system design, we shared RF front-end to reduce costs. We use two amplifiers and high-pass and low pass filtering method in IF signal processing, so we got the effective gain and lower noise.This paper use FPGA and DSP hardware implementation of signal processing, FPGA is suitable at large quantities of data processing and DSP is suitable at rapid processing of the data. Meanwhile, the VCO module, automatic gain adjustment module, FFT module, DMA data transfer module, LCD display module are controlled by FPGA and DSP, and the DSP as the main processor to achieve the communication mode.The signal processing of ranging velocity mode uses a modulation method of the triangular wave, triangular wave of different frequencies to be launched at different distances ranging, and achieved higher sensitivity and resolution. We make a test in the real environment, and the results show it has a good performance. In the communication mode, using very sophisticated frequency-shift keying (FSK) method, it is easy to implement and has good noise immunity and anti-attenuation performance.Finally, we summarize the finished work of this thesis, and discuss the follow-up work.
