Because the bar code technology is accurate, quick, convenient, economical characteristics, thus is quickly penetrated into the automation management in various fields, and gradually extended to all walks of life and people’s daily life.The thesis is based on one-dimensional bar code EAN-13code, made some exploratory research, basically did the work of the following respects:Firstly, introduces the development history of one-dimensional bar code and coding theory, the EAN-13code code system standard, graphical symbols and composition structural characteristics.Secondly, in the bar code image preprocessing, it introduces in detail the gray mean value method, color value and weighted value method; in addition, it also introduces threshold segmentation in the fixed threshold segmentation, threshold segmentation, Shuangfeng average histogram threshold method, threshold segmentation iterative method, Otsu method (Otsu), maximum entropy method, Bemsen method, Niblack method and OpenCV method. And gives a method of experimental results and compares the advantages and disadvantages of various methods.Thirdly, in the aspect of the bar code localization and recognition, this paper combines with the structure features of the bar code itself, npresents a run-length coding based on thinking of the bar code location and identification method. This method not only reduces the value of the two image storage space, more important is the method of using a code to show three kinds of information using says" bar"," spare" and" bar spare width". Great convenience for the bar code positioning and identification. Because the bar image structures are very similar, therefore, the method is also applicable to other bar image.Finally, it introduces the Android platform structure characteristics, it developed a set of bar code decoding system in the intelligent mobile phone Android platform and achieved the intelligent mobile phone platform based on bar code identification.
