Memristor, as the fourth fundamental passive circuit element, was predicted by ProfessorCHUA L O. in1971, and it’s existence was confirmed by HP Labs scientists in2008. For thecharacteristics of nanoscale dimensions, nonlinear, memory function, a lot of attention has beenpaid to memristor in model analysis, basic circuit design, electronics design, integrated circuitdesign as well as biological neural system simulation.First, we analyzed the characteristics of memristor and pointed out the problems that existedin the logic circuit application implemented by memristor. Second, we compared the memristor’sresistance variance with the ones when transistor and diode was used as a switch. Then weproposed a kind of method of logic gate circuit implementation with only memristor. Thetheoretical analysis and SPICE simulation experiment results confirmed that the circuit wedesigned achieved the basic boolean logic functions. At last, some combinational logic circuitswas designed using the basic logic gate, the simulation experiments confirmed the feasibility ofour proposed method further more. The basic logic gate circuits designed in the paper withoutdiode and transistor, do not need sequential operation, and have a great advantage in circuit size,integration density and power consumption.
