With the development of science and technology, handheld mobile devices gradually become popular in people’s daily life. Desktop paradigm is designed to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the office automation. However, owing to handheld mobile devices’interactive context have changed, the demand for usability features and interactive paradigm in the mobile computing environment is different from in the desktop’, traditional usability design and implementation techniques are no longer meet the requirements of the mobile computing. Therefore, the need of new usability and interaction paradigm raised.This new usability requirement is called mobile usability in this paper, which is an expansion of the traditional usability and pervasive usability in the mobile context rather than denying them simply. Mobile usability not only emphasizes the system should support users to complete their tasks effectively and efficiently, but also stresses the semantics expressed by the interface should close to user’s mental model. Usability is the quality of user interacts with system, while interaction paradigm is a technology to achieve usability, effective interaction can improve the efficiency of the human-computer interaction. Thus, in order to achieve mobile usability, this paper introduces the concept of mobile paradigm, which does not completely exclude the traditional desktop paradigm, but comprehensively utilizing the long-term nature of graphical user interface and the efficiency of gesture interaction; that is to say, mobile paradigm is an interaction of "hand cooperates with eyes". It achieves a smooth transition from people’s cognitive space to mobile computing space, and greatly enhances the naturalness and efficiency of the mobile human-computer interaction. But gesture interaction is continuous, the relationship between input and output is closely, using traditional user interface software architecture will create a high communication cost and power consumption, easily lead to communication overload. In view of the traditional user interface models can not satisfy the interaction mode demand of the mobile paradigm, this paper proposes a new type of mobile user interface software architecture model named MD, which is composed of dialogue component layer and application model layer. This model combines input and output closely, and puts more processing power into dialogue component layer (namely, use macro-communication), consequently minimizing the communication and synchronization between layers, solving the power issue effectively, improving the interactive efficiency and making the program more stable.By applying this model to the prototype development of Android-based Graphical Interface Development Toolkit—AndroidGIDT, we verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the model.
