With the rapid development of mobile phone, the relationships between people and mobile phone interface become more complicated, especially when the multi-touch technology has been applied to the mobile phone. The screen of mobile phone is required be inputted information as well as output the information. It takes a large challenge to the mobile phone interface design. Designers want to know the detailed data about the user visual attention on user interface elements and assess the interface layout in quantification. It is very difficult to measure the inner differences of the mobile phone interface by the traditional operate indicators in the usability testing. This paper introduces eye-tracking into the usability evaluation of mobile phone interface. The usability of two musical mobile phones is been compared by both eye-tracking data and traditional indicators. The inner differences between them are also be analyzed. Results show that eye-tracking data can be applied to better understand how users initiate a search for a targeted object, standard usability evaluation of mobile phone in understanding user expectations, and make design recommendations.Compared to the previous studies, this paper researches on usability evaluation of mobile phone interface based on eye-tracking, introduces eye-tracking date into the usability indicator system and designs a new mobile phone interface prototype with better usability. The results have important significance that it guides the practice of mobile phone usability evaluation and further improves the usability indicator system. |
