An Usability Study On Mobile Services In China

With the development of mobile communication technology and the increment of mobile phone users, more and more mobile users try to experience mobile services. However, in spite of its huge potential users and broad development prospects, nowadays the development of mobile value-added services does not reach the desired goals. People are not satisfied with the services and do not accept them. Besides price and web-speed, usability is one of the important factors affecting user experience. Therefore, it is necessary to improve user experience of the mobile services by improving the usability of mobile services.Based on the analysis of usability studies of mobile services abroad. Firstly, the author conducts a questionaire survey of domestic mobile services. After that, we get to know the cognition and use of the current mobile services, the factors affecting user experience, user satisfaction and requirements. Secondly, the author selects wap service as a subject, and conducts usability research on it. In order to know the current usability status of the domestic wap sites, the author conducts an usability evaluation on the two representative wap sites, provides certain recommendations and summarizes a series of wap usability guidelines. Moreover, taking 3g wap site as an example, the author modifies the original wap site, and develops high fidelity prototype with ucd method. Finally, through the comparative test, the result indicates that the modified wap site is obviously better than the original wap site. In this way it confirms the validity of the usability guidelines and ucd method in improving the usability of mobile services.In this thesis, the author conducts an exploratory study on domestic mobile services. Research results indicate the feasibility of usability and ucd method. The methods and productions used in this study can be effectively applied to the usability study and development of mobile services. therefore, the paper has great significance in improving the user experience and promoting the development of mobile services in china.
