The body temperature is important evidence for diagnosis of many diseases. How to safely, easily and accurately measure body temperature is conducive to diagnosis and treatment of diseases. In recent years, with pandemic outbreak of epidemic diseases, large-scale, timely acquiring the group body temperature is required to monitor the development of the disease. But, it is very difficult to achieve large-scale, accurate and rapid response by traditional monitoring method, which is not suitable for large-scale surveillance of epidemic diseases. In order to resolve this problem, a wireless group temperature monitoring system based on ZigBee is designed and implemented.The objects that are monitored by system are people in the building. ZigBee wireless temperature monitoring network was installed in the building to monitor the people’s body temperature, and it is able to achieve room-level area location based on simplex-based infrared serial communication. The wireless monitoring network using an embedded serial/Ethernet gateway access to computer networks for communicating with a remote server. The remote server provides services of data storage and Web-based visual presentation.This article presents a design of ZigBee wireless temperature monitoring network nodes software/hardware and gateway software. Firstly, Characteristics and protocol stack structure of ZigBee wireless communication technology are introduced, and the ZigBee network device types, devices roles and the network topology are analyzed. Secondly, the system requirements are analyzed, and the system architecture of ZigBee wireless network combined with embedded serial/Ethernet gateway is proposed. System is divided into multiple modules, including the double-differential ADC temperature measurement circuit based on thermistor, the room-level area location circuit based on simplex-based infrared serial communication and the display circuit of segment LCD. Followed by, the key role of gateways in the system is analyzed, and a design of gateway based on socket middleware is proposed. A technique of achieve reliably serial communication is discussed in detail, and the implementation of gateway on the software and hardware platform of open-source operating system RT-Thread and microprocessor S3C2440development board is described. Finally, the structure, operation flow and configuration of the Z-Stack is introduced, the measure and hierarchical structure application development in Z-Stack is discussed. The workflow of coordinator’s serial communication software is analyzed and serial application layer frame format and features are described in detail. The application software of wireless temperature monitoring network node has been designed and implemented.
