Research On Software R&D Management With Clients’ Involvement

During the whole process of software developing, the influence of the users is constant. Even if lack of users’direct involvement, all kinds of support and cooperation is essential during every period of the software development. If the user participation is absent, these procedures will not be processed smoothly, or will be far deviated from the original targets.As the fact that user involvement has great impact on every phase of software project, how to promote the user positive involvement in project development, is the most confused issue that every project manager shall face.As an analyst, who is a bridge between internal staff, users and contractors, should have deep understanding of the negative influence of users in a low-invested internal operation system enhancement project. Because of the current management tools and methods can not be very effective in controlling this kind of negative influence of users through frequent and mass alteration of goals. In order to determine the scope of controlling the alteration of requirements, and to increase the success rate of these kinds of projects, this thesis is focused on the two following problems:1. If users should participate in this kind of low-invested internal operation enhancement? or how should the users participate?2. Can the success rate be increased by users’ self-control in requirement alteration?In this paper, base on the research of the cases of different degree of user participation, and the research of the user type, participation stage and the degree of user participation, it can be said that the user should participation in this projects, and it is a guarantee of the project success. On the other hand, on the basis of a large number of documents and theory, it put forward the user self-control practices "user in charge of redundant resources", and test in an actual project. Through the practice, it confirm that this practice programs and idea of user self-control is feasible. In the end, it put forward the problems to be further explored.
