Surface mount technology has been widely applied more and more in themanufacture of printed circuit board production. The placement machine is theintergration of mechanical,electrical,machine vision system and computer technologywith high technological content in the SMT production line. The research platform inthis paper is the Quad QSP-2surface mount machine in SMT laboratory of theElectrical and Mechanical Engineering College of Soochow University. Based on theoriginal equipment and replaced parts of the control system hardware,the control systemsoftware has been designed and improved,realize the automatic placement function ofplacement machine; Based on analysis of the assembly planning of gantry machines,transform the problem of optimization of components assembly sequence to theclassical combinatorial majorization problem Traveling salesman problem.TheMax-Min Ant System was employed to plan printed circuit board production and applyto the optimization of components assemly sequence problem.The main contents of the work is divied into three parts. Firstly, analysis andresearch the electrical parts of placement machine, determin control strategy. Secondly,base on the researches of the past graduate students,the control system software hasbeen designed and improved,including driver, debugging, PCB data management andcontrol function of the placement machine etc.Thirdly,the Max-Min Ant System wasemployed to realize the optimization of components assembly sequence problem,including the basic principle of the algorithm,determination of parameters,therealization of the algorithm.
