In information age, information resources not only bring us tremendous convenience, butalso cause a lot of information problems, such as information pollution, information overload,information silo, information monopoly and so on, the contradiction between the mankind andthe information environment become more and more serious. The information ecology as anemerging discipline become an important international research field, its research objectbasically is the information ecosystem, its research purpose is to realize the balance of theinformation ecosystem, thereby promote the sustainable development of the mankind, theinformation environment and the whole human society. For the time being, although theconstruction of academic digital library in our country has developed at a faster speed and theoverall level is also very high, it also appeared many problems in the process of construction,such as the information security and the repeat construction of the information resourcesproblems. If only let them deteriorate, digital library information ecosystem will be in the stateof imbalance, and will affect the sustainable development of digital library. Therefore, weurgently need to establish a scientific and effective evaluation system to measure the healthsituation of digital library information ecosystem. According to the problems existing in thesystem, coordinate the relationship and the promotion among the elements reasonably andfinally realize the balance of the system.Based on the theories and methods of information ecology, this study analyzed thepre-existing research findings at home and abroad, constructed the evaluation system of digitallibrary information ecosystem and made a corresponding empirical analysis. This researchcontent is divided into five chapters: chapter one induces the research background andsignificance of the study, reviews the relevant research status at home and abroad and expoundsthis paper’s content and innovation points, research thoughts and methods. Chapter twointroduces the relevant theories of the information ecology and further analyzes the connotationand component of digital library information ecosystem. Chapter three constructs the evaluationsystem of digital library information ecosystem from three perspectives of system organization,system energy and system service capability by using evaluation model of natural ecosystem.Then the methods of establishing indexes’ weight and value are given and a mathematicalmodel is constructed to compute the healthy value of a specific digital library ecosystem.Chapter four is empirical research. The evaluation system and mathematical model are appliedto the evaluation of QuFU Normal University which is selected as evaluation objects, proofingand testing the research results of the front, and advices are put forward to promote the balance of digital library information ecosystem. The last chapter summarizes this study and points outthe further research orientation.This study applies the theories and methods of information ecology into digital libraryevaluation, regarding digital library as a whole information ecosystem, we construct theevaluation system of digital library information ecosystem from the systematic perspective andthen complete the evaluation work and find out the problems existing in the system. Then wecoordinate the relationship and the promotion among the elements reasonably to promote thebalance and stability of the system. This is completely different from the past digital libraryevaluation methods, providing a new perspective for digital library evaluation.
