With the development of CNGI and the rapid expansion of internet, the network operators published several network applications based on CNGI network. This article talks about the research and design of the network management system with the practical guidance.This article describes the model structure of the network management system. With the analysis of the technical development of the network management system, and with the author’s practical work, we proposed the overall design and plan of the network management system of the CNGIresearch institutions, and give the system testing and implementing plan. The CNGI network management system in research institution is based on the Web management system, which improves the ability of the troubleshooting and network monitoring; the system could realized the following features:the general management of the CNGI routers、switches、line resources and the network operation; With the dual stack management for IPv4,IPv4/IPv6; Network topology management, bug central management, network performance monitor and analysis, central resources of configuration management, comprehensive reports management; On network operation and maintenance of process management; implementation of this system can improve network availability, optimize the use of network resources.
