| In this thesis, an in-depth study on the technical solution of ADSL CPE remote management is given. On the basis of that, a feasibility study of system implementation with the Alcatel DSLAM platform is introduced. The functional subsystem architecture design is also presented in the topic of this thesis. An urgent requirement of CPE remote management from Telecom Operator has been raised recently, since the ADSL broadband access network is getting more and more popular, which makes the work for bulk CPE configuration, diagnosis and troubleshooting become a really tough job. According to the specification of CCSA on this topic, two candidate solutions to implement the management channel, EOC or PVC over ADSL line have been studied in detail. The latter was chosen as the final one after the evaluation in terms of performance, reliability and standard compliance, etc. To introduce this function into the feature of DSLAM product of Alcatel, a feasibility study is given from technical point of view, with focus on how to relay the management messages between CPE-MM and CPE in the ISAM/ASAM platform. Analysis on alternative proposal of SNMP proxy and NAPT architecture is also presented. The final conclusion was drawn with consideration of several important points of implementation in the specified product. On basis of the study, a top level design of the CPE proxy subsystem is given, which includes requirement analysis, system module decomposition, list of use case and application scenario, definition of subsystem interface to other modules of the system. A detail study on the issues of management traffic bandwidth/QOS/Overload is also presented to ensure the feasibility of the proposal. A test case on the main function and ultimate performance of system is introduced at last to demonstrate it has met the main functional and performance requirements of system design. The solution and implementation presented in this thesis could help significantly improve the efficiency of network OAM(Operation and Maintenance) and customer satisfaction. With the development of broadband access technology and services, the content of this topic is getting richer. Surely it will bring more convenience to our modern network life. |
