With the "low carbon, green travel" concept proposed and various preferential policies for public transport put into use, more and more people choose bus as their traffic tool. But as you known, there are many unknown traffic factors, particulary under Beijing’s complex road condition. From this aspect, bus is so inconvenient. How to reduce the waiting time of bus and make passenger master real-time traffic information become especially important. Nowadays, many organizations and institutions pay much attention on the study of intelligent public transportation system. There are many valid solutions already, but also has many problems. For example, passengers only can get this real-time information on bus station rather than anytime and anywhere. Actually, it can’t reduce the waiting time of bus. At the same time, with the rapid development of technology and economy, the mobile phone has become a new generation communication tool gathering voice communication and multimedia communication. The ascension of mobile phone performance and network bandwith make the development of small and medium-sized applications on mobile phone become possible. More and more internet applications have been transplanted to mobile intelligent terminal. So the idea that develops real-time bus inquery system on mobile phone comes into being.The real-time bus system based on mobile terminal can solve those problems above perfectly. With the smart phone, user can obtain arriving time and real-time location of bus at anytime and anywhere. Moreover, the system can provide real-time transit plan according to the real-time traffic condition data. Through this method, user can reduce bus waiting time greatly and the bus travel efficiency is improved at the same time.In this thesis, we firstly analyze the background and current research situation on intelligent public transport system, and then lead to the goal and significance of our subject. When introduce the key technologies of this system, we include GPS position, symbian and QT programming techniques and Baidu map application. From the user needs and business requirements, we describe the system’s data process flow in detail. In the end, we talk about the system hardware and software environments.The main content of this thesis is the design and implementation of wireless mobile client. In chapter 4, we design the system architecture and divide the whole system into several subsystems. And in chapter 5, the design and implementation of every client module are described in detail. In order to verify whether all the expected functions have been realized, we do an integration testing in chapter 6. In the last part of paper, a summary of full paper was made. According to the existed inadequacy, the future work plan is put forward.
