Academic Communication System Based On Social Network

With development of science and technology, computer technology came into being, from the very beginning it is promoting progress of science and technology, and developed along with progress of science and technology. The rapid development of computer technology and wide spread of personal computers gave birth to Internet. As Internet on a global scale widely used, human gradually entered the information age. With rapid rise of social networking sites and electronic commerce the Internet has penetrated into people’s daily life and social fields. Internet will and is bound to become people’s necessities of life. The wide use of smart mobile communications equipment and rapid development of mobile Internet has accelerated this process. However, the value of the Internet in the academic field has not been effectively explored.The Internet is composed by tens of thousands of computers, the computer itself in the academic field has been and will continue to be effectively utilized, but the Internet has not been utilized effectively.The academic communication field is the best entry point of the Internet in the academic field. The author try to explore the value of Internet in the academic communication field. Based on this object, the author developed this academic communication system. This system is based on social network engine Elgg, designed for researchers, using web framework LAMP. This system consists of six modules,research institution module, user module, blog module, messages module, activity module, search module, site administration module, album module, microblog module, group module, chat module and video conference module, the last four module has not finished yet. Research institutions module provide publicity, internal communication and other functionalities to real world research institutions, members of the research institutions can share files, publish internal blogs, initiate internal discussions and so on. Individual users can create their research institutions online, publish blogs, make friends, send messages to other users, browse activities and so on.The system is a combination of academic communications and research institutions outreach, designed to promote academic communications, and research result application; introduced social network into the field of academic communications, and specialized it to meet the special needs of communications; pay high attention to user-oriented product design, optimizing user experience; the popularization and application of the system is bound to promote academic communications, research result application, facilitate the researchers.
