The Application And Research Of Data Warehouse Technology In Higher Vocationcal Colleges

With the rapid development of information systems, higher Career Education College has established a number of application systems including Teaching Affairs Management System, Charging System, and Research Project Management System. These application systems have played an important role in daily process by collecting huge amount of data and forming valuable information resources. However, as these systems are mainly used for daily information management, and the data are only for simple query and statistical reports, lacking useful information abstracted through technique mechanism for leaders of different levels to obtain knowledge, enhance insight, thereby to promote effectiveness and efficiency of decision-making.The thesis researched the theory of Data Warehouse and OLAP, and applied them in the analysis of students’scores and charging in the construction of Model National Vocational College of Sichuan Vocational and Technical College of Communications.The thesis introduced the basic conceptions and related technologies of Data Warehouse and OLAP, then built Microsoft SQL Server2008-based data warehouse on the basis of the Student Database and Charging Database of SVTCC, and set up multidimensional data clusters by the Analysis Service, using MDX and pivot table report to realize data reproduction and deep analysis of student data and charging data, which can provide reference for educational management and student administration in coming days.The preliminary application of testing system shows that the system design has achieved the expected goal and met the designing requirements.
