Today, every country and every corner in this planet is in an open system which can not be completely isolated from the outside world. There is no such places that are free from the strike of disaster. While vital natural disasters frequently happening in China, the world has also entered the catastrophe-prone period. A variety of major natural disasters greatly influenced the safety and development of our file cause. Therefore, study on the crisis management of archives is both the demands of the times and an important task which are necessary for our file cause. In this paper, research on the defense, the emergency response and the rehabilitative measures of the files crisis management will be conducted in three phases respectively namely, before the occurrence, during the occurrence and after the occurrence and finally draw relevant conclusion.The paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction to the background and significance of this study, and an analysis of current domestic and foreign file Crisis Management Research. Then the research approach and research method applied will be clarified. The second chapter is about the definition of major natural disasters and gives an overview to files crisis management. Meanwhile, types of natural disasters are divided, and the different hazards that different natural disasters bring to files management are classified. This chapter also describes the evolution of file Crisis Management to put forward the system processes of file crisis management. The third chapter states that archives sector should be prepared for major natural disasters from three aspects:the files crisis prevention, crisis early warning, crisis plans. Chapter four analyzes the files crisis emergency response, discusses the principles of the files crisis response, the organizing and disposal measures. The fifth chapter discusses in detail the specific processes and the main task of recovery efforts after major natural disasters.
