With the constant expansion of the network, the repeater equipment in use by more and more, so repeater devices on a large amount of test tasks, the use of time-consuming manual testing, while the inevitable result of error on the test impact. We propose the ultimate goal of the project is in strict accordance with industry standards, uniform testing methods, the testing process of error by automating the test process to a minimum, improve test efficiency and test the quality of work.The author is responsible for the test of repeater RF in the company, This paper is summary of work experience in the many years. In order to improve efficiency and accuracy of test, The author organized and participated in building up of auto test system including the idea of a systematic framework, standards research and draft, test method discussion, instrument and device integration, and software design, as far as possible the interference of human factors.Firstly, the paper introduces related background. Secondly, it analyses and discusses of repeater RF test standards, in order to conclude the test condition and requirement of all test items of repeater RF performance. Thirdly, the author gives out the design and implement of the test system both in hardware and software in details based on the conclusion of analysis.In hardware design, the author explains the selection of test instruments, RF components, and other needed devices, and then gives out a design of hardware connection. The software of the system is divided into user interface, test plan making,test plan execution,test data processing, test report generation, and instruments controlling six functional modules based on the modularization idea. The software achieves remote operation of the instruments by using GPIB interface function and standard commands for programmable instruments (SCPI). The design, architecture, and processing flow of the main function modules are illustrated in details in the paper.With the APEC and the WTO approaches, our laboratory will face the challenge of foreign laboratories, the establishment of automated test systems will increase the competitiveness of the laboratory. The test system with repeater in accordance with our relevant industry standards and rigorous tests done for the country first. The system is high precision, good accuracy, stability, flexible operation, to the domestic manufacturers and testing organizations to promote, and improve the quality of communications equipment testing.
