Torque is the important parameters of the mechanical transmission system. Bymeasuring the torque we can know very well about the transmission system. It providesa lot of important information for safety monitoring, optimum designing and improvingthe efficiency of the system. Nowadays, many types of sensor can be used to measuringtorque,some of them achieve a high accuracy. But these sensors can not work normallyin high temperature, strong corrosion and shock environment.Aiming at measuring torque of mechanical shaft dynamic in the extremeenvironment, we put forward a kind of non-contact torque measuring system which iscomposed of a ring-ball-grid and a electromagnetic detector, supported by The NationalNatural Science Foundation of China“the research of ring array based on sphericallysymmetrical AC electromagnetic induction principle”(Project number:50975300) andthe doctoral program of higher education of the specialized research fund “the principleof torque measurement based on annular space array”(Project number:20100191110038). On the basis of that we discuss the sensor’s measurement principlefor improving rationality and reliability of the circular space array torque sensorstructure. Combining with the theory of electromagnetism, we discuss the design and dosome optimization to the structure of electromagnetic detector.The paper firstly analyzes the principle of annular ball grid torque measurement,and analysis and discuss the ring type ball grid torque measurement technology and theannular ball grid torque measurement system, finally study the problems of existingsensor structure.We carry out the structural optimization design of circular ball grid torque sensorand the optimal design of electromagnetic detector based on the above analysis,discussion, research. We provide an optimized scheme and new design of sensorstructure which are described in detail; analyze principle of electromagnetic detectoroptimization based on the theory of electromagnetism and demonstrate the rationalityand reliability of the new structure; describe the signal processing method of newsensor and calculation method of phase difference between two annular ball grid signal,do analysis and study of optimized sensor measuring principle and structurecharacteristics.By using ANSOFT finite element analysis software, we set up a3d model of the sensor, analyzes the characteristics of the changes of the magnetic field sensor whenshaft is rotating in high speed. By changing the parameters of the sensor model, wediscuss the advantages and disadvantages of sensor structure and how to optimize theperformance of the sensor.Finally, we do experimental analysis of optimized design of ring type ball gridtorque sensor through setting platform of torque measurement. It verify rationality andreliability annular ball grid electromagnetic detector structure and ring ball grid torquesensor structure optimization design. The experimental results show that optimizeddesign of ring type ball grid torque sensor can meet the extreme environment of torquemeasurement requirements.
