With the rapid development of network, the information security arouses people’sinterest more and more. As an important technology in information security,encryption technology is playing an important role. Packet-based DES (DataEncryption Standard) encryption and decryption algorithm occupies a pivotal positionin cryptography, and the3DES encryption, the decipher algorithm which overcomesthe DES shortcoming of key too short, has the widespread application. The traditionalencryption work is realized by running the encryption software on computer。Thismethod takes the host resource and its computational speed is slower than thehardware encryption. The keys are saved in the procedure by plaintext, or encryptedin the document or in the digital library, and important data (for example personalpassword PIN and so on) at one point will appear by the definite orders form incomputer’s memory or the floppy disk, therefore the security will be poor. ARMprocessor-based encryption system is achieved through the hardware encryptiondevices, which is independent of the host system. It does not occupy the host resource,the speed is quick and the security is high. To add encryption and decryption functionsin the hardware will enable the storage and transmission of data with high security.This paper will focus on the development of file encryption and decryptionsystem based on the ARM3DES.
