As an emerging automatic identification technology in20th century, RFID(RadioFrequency Identification) is used to implement the contractless data transmission by spaceinductive coupling among the wireless radio frequency signals,thereby achieving the targetrecognition and obtaining the related-data. Compared with the mature bar-coding, RFID hasseveral advantages of long identification distance, read-write tags, large storage capacity, highspeed, without human intervention, strong anti-jam ability and multi-label recognition. Atpresent, RFID is widely applied in lots of areas, such as license security, intelligenttransportation, logistics management, electronic payment, assect tracking and public informationservices. However, RFID technology is realised by radio frequency signals, usd the openingchannals which lead to the data exposed in a public communication environment. If there is noreliable RFID security mechanism to against the external attrack, the information will confrontthe security threats which will bring users a great loss.A effective security mechanism is the key of anti-attrack ability for RFID system. Aimingat the security problem, a design of security mechanism which based on cryptographyauthentication is described in this paper, using Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES). VerilogHDL modules are synthesized on the Cyclong II FPGA platform. The mechanism in this work isused to implement data encryption and authentication for RFID targets, thereby realize securecommunication.In this design, RFID modules are structured by the contactless smart card Mifare1seriesand MF RC522reader, moreover the security encryption mec hanism is implemented by FPGAsimulating. The working principle and relevant aspects are introduced in detail. By analysing theinternational standards that supported by Mifare1series, the encryption algorithm3DES isproposed. This paper introduces the entire RFID hardware implementation of encryption system,containing FPGA interface circuits, configuration circuit, Mifare1card, reader and encryptionmodule. On the other hand, the system software design that includes the developmentenvironment QuartusII, operation instruction, processes and initialization of reader is illustrated,in which focus on the design and implementation of security encrytption mechanism. Finallyverity the design results on FPGA development platform.The Mifare1card’s encryption feature is used to re-encrypt the data stored on card withembedded TDES encryption module. The authentication mechanism that performed in thecommunication improves the system security, while the anti-jam ability is enhanced in the process.
