Primary school Chinese education is the foundation of the Chinese education, and the primary school language teaching material construction relates to child can eat"open milk" or not and the foundation of healthy growth which caused the educationalcircles to attach great importance and have intense discussion. In order to participatein the discussion, we studied the now common sets of primary school Chineseteaching material, and select the PEP primary school Chinese Textbooks as anexample to have a systematically research about the primary school Chinese teachingmaterial’s " adult" problem. We found that "children-oriented" education has of great significance ineducation, teaching, education reform and other aspects, based on the study on thedefinition and the development of the concept of "children-oriented". It is thesignificance of the "children-oriented" education that leads us to expand the analysisof the "adult" phenomenon (non-children-oriented) in Chinese textbooks for primaryschools.Through statistical analysis of the Chinese textbooks for primary schools, it wasfound that the "adult" phenomenon is mainly showed in five aspects: the selectedarticles, language, exercises, writing, and structure. These "adult" have majordrawbacks: contrary to the law, the teachers’ awareness loss of "children-oriented”,increased "adult" tendency of teaching in primary school. In order to better address the “adult” problems in textbooks, our further study found that there are mainly fivecauses leading to the "adult" phenomenon in Chinese textbooks for primary schools:the examination-oriented education system, the instilling educational model, thetraditional concept about children, forced political orientation, and compilation fromthe adults’ perspective.Through the above study, we proposed the corresponding countermeasures to thecompilation concept on and the content of the Chinese textbooks for primaryschools. We advocate the concept of "children-oriented" in the process of textbookscompilation: to treat children as the starting point, to respect children’ originalcreativeness, to focus on the process of children’ socialization, to meet the law ofchildren language learning, and to be suitable for children’ psychology of differentstages; Meanwhile, we also advocate "children-oriented" textbook content:"children-oriented" selected texts,"children-oriented" textbook language,"children-oriented" textbook exercises, and "children-oriented" textbook writing, and "children-oriented" textbook structure.
