Mr. Hu Ji is a famous historian of theatre and Chinese linguist,whose study on the history of theatre in Song and Jin dynasty isauthoritative at home and abroad. The object of research is Hu’s classicwork the study on history of theatre in Song and Jin dynasty in thisarticle. I was trying to make a macro-investigation on the main questionsHu studied, and summarized his research results in this field. Firstly, thearticle defined the concepts Zaju and Yuanben based on Hu’s study andnew found materials and others’study. Then make a study on origin andevolution of Zaju and Yuanben，and thought they are different theatretypes.Then make a study on theatrical pieces of both theatre types andclassified them. At the last part of the article, I sorted of the type ofJiaose and analyzed its name.
