The present dissertation is specially on the zaju-dramatic works of Zhu You-dun, the famous playwright in the early Ming Dynasty. The dissertation starts with a general survey of the playwright's dramatic works, tells us innovations in zaju-drama made by the playwright. The relationship between his work and the political situations of the time. The religious thoughts of the playwright reflected in his works and discusses the language style among other things in Zhu You-dun's works.The first chapter of the dissertation gives us a general survey of Zhu You-dun's dramatic works. It deliberately investigates the relevant dramatic works of the playwright, defines which should belong to whom. The dissertation, at the same time, explores into the playwright' works and their various editions and the places and years of their popularity.The second chapter of the present dissertation talks about Zhu You-dun's successful reforms in zaju-plays while he endeavored to take down za-ju traditions of the genre of Yung Dynasty. The dissertation expounds the innovations made by Zhu You-dun in the number of the acts and scenes in a play and the singing parts of the genre. All these aspects are the break through contributions by our playwright to zaju-dramatic works, with magnificent significance.In the 3rd chapter the author of the dissertation enumerates the great influence of the political background on Zhu You-dun's dramatic works. The dissertation author details the characteristic features of the influences in the wartime and peaceful society respectively.In the next chapter the present dissertation studies the religious outlook represented in our playwright's works and it's influence. The dissertation discusses that the religious must serve for political rule and makes a detailed study of the combination between Buddhism and Confusianism.The 5th chapter studies the language features of our playwright Zhu You-dun in his zaju-dramatic works, which were highly appreciated and widely loved. The author of the present dissertation highly praises the artistic achievements of Zhu You-dun in zaju- dramatic works.
