Objective: To investigate the current situation of nursing scientificresearch capacity from grade three and first-class Hospitals in Hebei Province,and to analyse nursing scientific research capacity requirements by analyzingthe influencing factors of nurses nursing scientific research capacity and theconditions that meet the demand of nursing scientific research. The purposewas to provide some valuable reference for taking effective measures bynursing managers and superior health sector, and thus promoting thedevelopment of nursing research, as well as promoting hospital nursingresearch work.Methods: This study used rating scale of nursing scientific researchability designed by Cheng Jinlian in ShanXi Medical University. Thequestionnaire included general data(10items), rating scale(30items)andself-designed Scientific knowledge demand(7items)and form of gettingscientific research knowledge(3items), to investigate1100registered nursesworking longer than one year in ten grade three and first-class hospitals inHebei Province. Samples were collected by convenient. The questionnaireresults were analysized by using EPIDATA3.0software based on the database,and the SPSS13.0statistical package for data statistical analysis. Statisticaldescription, analysis of variance and SNK-q test were employed to describeand test the results.Results:1The scores of nursing capacity ranged from0to120, the mean andstandard deviation is59.31±25.57, while only22.3%perceived a high level,53.4%perceived a medium level, and24.3%perceieved a low level.77.7%belongs to the middle and lower levels. 2Each dimension in the scientific research ability scale average scorewith a point value between0and4, each dimension index average score fromhigh to low in turn is: capacity of generating the research ideas, capacity ofsearching and reviewing literature, capacity of practicing research, capacity ofwriting a research report, capacity of designing research protocol, capacity ofanalyzing research data and material.Capacity of designing research protocol,capacity of analyzing research data and material got the lowest score, whichsuggested that nursing scientific research capacity in every aspect in ourprovince needs to be improved, especially mentioned above.3Scientific nursing research capacity is related to age, first and finaleducation degree, technical title, administrative rank, labor relations, teaching,reading frequency and paper publishing, but wether the hospital is a schoolaffiliated hospital or not makes no difference.(1) Taking age as grouping variables, the total score differences ofscientific research capacity was statistically significant (P <0.05), from highto low is the age groups of≥46、36~40and41~45、26~30and31~35、≤25.(2)Taking first education degree as grouping variables, the total scoredifferences of scientific research capacity was statistically significant (P <0.05), there were some differences between technical secondary schoolstudents, college students and undergraduate or above. The scores ofundergraduate or above is higher than that of technical secondary schoolstudents and college students, the scores of technical secondary schoolstudents is higher than that of college students.(3)Taking final degree as grouping variables, the total score differencesof scientific research capacity was statistically significant (P <0.05); therewere no differences between technical secondary school students, collegestudents and undergraduates; there were some differences betweenpostgraduates and others,and the score of postgraduates was a bit higher.(4)Taking technical titles as grouping variables, the total score differencesof scientific research capacity was statistically significant (P <0.05), the totalscore of nurses and senior nurses was the same, there were some differences among others, and above deputy director of the group were significantlyhigher than others, the score of supervisor nurses was higher than that ofnurses and senior nurse.(5)Taking administrative post as grouping variables, the total scoredifferences of scientific research capacity was statistically significant (P <0.05), the total score of head nurse, departmental head nurse and director ofnursing makes no difference,the team in position has some differences withthe team holds no post and the team in position is higher than the group holdsno post.(6)Taking labor relation as grouping variables, the total score differencesof scientific research capacity was statistically significant (P <0.05), the totalscore of formal nurses is higher than those in contract position.(7)Taking teaching as grouping variables, the total score differences ofscientific research capacity was statistically significant (P <0.05), the totalscore of nurses who gained teaching is higher than those without teachingexperience.(8)Taking reading frequency as grouping variables, the total scoredifferences of scientific research capacity were statistically significant (P <0.05), the total score from high to low is the team reading frequently, thegroup of reading occasionally and thosewho never read.(9)Taking whether to publish papers as grouping variables, the total scoredifferences of scientific research capacity was statistically significant (P <0.05), the total score of nurses who published papers is higher than thosenever had paper published.(10)Taking hospital property as grouping variables, each dimension andthe total score of nursing scientific research capacity of nurses from schoolaffiliated hospital and unaffiliated hospital had no statistical significance(P>0.05).4Among the scientific research knowledge requirements, selection of asubject71.0%, research design69.1%, collection of data68.9%, analysisingdata and searching literature the same61.5%, writing60.2%, declaring subjects52.2%, reached more than half. Therefore, selection of a subject,research design, data collection and analysis were the main difficulty forscientific research and the key points.5The most wanted research form in proper sequence was the seminar70.9%, to participate in other people’s scientific research activity66.7%,futher education53.8%. Nursing managers could be in accordance with thetechnical title of nursing personnel division level, adopted the specific trainingand began mentoring nurses on scientific research.Conclusion:1Nursing scientific research ability of grade three first-class hospital inHebei province was quite different, rang from zero to full mark, and only22.3%stay in high level,77.7%stay in medium and lower level.2In six dimensions of the scientific research ability, the score index fromhigh to low is as follows: capacity of generating the research ideas, capacity ofsearching and reviewing literature, capacity of practicing research, capacity ofwriting a research report, capacity of designing research protocol, capacity ofanalyzing research data and material. Capacity of designing research protocol,capacity of analyzing research data and material are weak points that shouldbe strengthened.3Nursing scientific research capacity is related to age, first degree, finaldegree, technical title, administrative rank, labor relations, teaching, readingfrequency and paper publishing.4Among the scientific research knowledge requirements, selection of asubject, research design, collection data and analysis data were the mostwanted, and the main difficulty for scientific research.5Nursing managers in management perspective should improvescientific nursing research as one of the important daily management and carryout activities such as seminar, professional research and other activitiesaccording to nurse staffs’ different titles, considering the actual situation,training capacity, to improve the nursing staff’s comprehension and graspknowledge of scientific research, therefore to enhance scientific research ability and improve nursing staff’s ability.
