Objectives:The aim of this research was to investigate the current status of the workplaceviolence against community nurses in Changchun of Jilin province and analyze therisk factors. According to the influencing factors, some feasible suggestions andcountermeasures were put forward for the relevant departments.Methods:This study adopted the method of convenience sampling. We selected4administrative districts in Changchun and all community nurses met the inclusioncriteria were investigated. Workplace violence questionnaire for community nurseswas used in the research. The database was established by EpiData3.1, and the datawas statistically analyzed by using the software of SPSS17.0. Mean±standarddeviation, median and quartile spacing were used for the measurement data.Frequency and percentage were used for the count data. Chi-square test was used forsingle factor analysis, and logistic regression was used for multiple-factor analysis.Results:1.31.90%of respondents reported that they had experienced workplace violencein the past year. The incidence of psychological violence, physical violence, andsexual harassment was31.90%,1.90%,3.10%, respectively.2. The highest occurrence of workplace violence suffered by community nurseswas76.12%in the day shift.29.10%of the incidents took place in the treatment room.The main characters of the perpetrators were the relatives of patients (50.00%), male(73.88%), and middle-aged (52.24%). The main reasons for workplace violence were"testiness"(47.76%) and "drunk"(38.06%). The main influences on the communitynurses were "feeling wronged"(62.69%) and "angry"(54.48%).8.96%of thecommunity nurses couldn’t go to work because of the violence. Community nurses’responses to workplace violence included "patient explanation"(63.43%) and"self-surrender and avoidance"(58.21%).Community nurses who had not reported theincidents accounted for53.73%. 3. Multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that "community healthorganization type ","settling in private","punishing employees without asking for anyreasons","fixed seats in waiting room" were the influential factors and contributed toworkplace violence.Conclusions:1. The incidence of workplace violence against community nurses in Changchunof Jilin province was low. Psychological violence was the main form of workplaceviolence. The incidence of physical violence was the lowest.2. The highest occurrence of workplace violence suffered by community nurseswas in the day shift and mainly took place in treatment room. The main characters ofthe perpetrators were the relatives of patients, male and middle-aged adult. The mainreasons for it were "testiness" and "drunk". Violence against community nursesmainly caused emotional impact. Community nurses’ responses to workplace violencemainly included "patient explanation" and "self-surrender and avoidance".3. Improving work environment, setting up safety facilities and changing ofnegative attitude toward dealing with workplace violence could prevent communitynurses from workplace violence.
