Objective:The Purpose of the study was to investigate the status quo of the turnover intention of nursing staff and each dimension of the psychological contract; to understand the statistically significant difference between the demographic variable of nursing staff and the psychological contract; And from the psychological contract, the paper will discuss all the correlation and effect between dimensions of the psychological contract and turnover intention of nursing staff in the nursing home. The results of the study would provide theoretical basis for the administrators to take effective measures to reduce the level of nursing staffs’turnover intention. Finally a low level of turnover intention of nurses could help to stabilize the nursing team.Methods:220nursing staffs were randomly selected from eight nursing homes which were selected according to the convenience sampling method. Using the questionnaire of the general demographic characteristics, Psychological contract scale and turnover intention scale survey the nursing staff. The data that was collected were statistically analyzed by SPSS16.0, statistical methods used in the study were descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, T—test, Pearson correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis.Results:50.90%of the nursing staff have strong intentions to leave; Perception level of the nursing staff to the psychological contract differ from high to low is staff responsibility to organization responsibility; The psychological contract of the nursing staff is closely related to their turnover intention. The dimension of the psychological contract showed significant negative correlation with the dimension of the turnover intention. And the organizational standard responsibility and staff personal responsibility are the significant effective predictive variables of the nursing staffs’ turnover intention; Different types of the nursing staffs’Psychological contract showed statistically significant difference to the turnover intention (P<0.05, P<0.01), Balanced Ⅰ (high-high) was the lowest, balanced Ⅱ (low-low) was the highest; The variables of the socio-demographic profile showed statistically significant difference(P<0.05, P<0.01)were different age, hometown, labor nature, education level, professional title, job title, income and work purpose, but not included the marriage status and working years.Conclusion:The nursing staff from nursing homes in Hangzhou have strong intention to leave, The variables of the socio-demographic profile show statistically significant difference on the psychological contract of different nursing staff’ in the nursing homes.Meanwhile, The psychological contract of the nursing staff is closely related to their turnover intention. Improve the nursing staff’ psychological contract level in the nursing homes will help to lower their turnover intention.
