Objective:This paper aims to describe how to apply the action-oriented teaching in the teaching and curriculum design of "Basic Nursing" for vocational nursing majors, explore the construction of advanced teaching idea of Germany action-oriented teaching in the "Basic Nursing" of China vocational nursing, and provide theoretical foundation and practice instruction in establishing a new reform teaching model for vocational nursing which is adaptable to the real situation in China and characterized as achieving exercise construction and interaction, employment-oriented and competency-based, determining teaching method according to learning ability, innovative method and situational designing, multi-evaluation and incentive development, etc.Method:Select119students from the2009vocational nursing major (three-year system) for study and divide them into experimental group (58students) and control group (61students) simply and randomly. The research is a synchronized randomized controlled trials research with the control group receives the traditional teaching method (that is preview---organize teaching---target deploying---teach the new class---teacher teaching---summarizing---class feedback---simulation training in laboratory---target assessment), while the experimental group receives the action-oriented teaching. After finish the teaching, the students were assessed for both theory and skill and required to filling in the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisa (WGCTA), Competencies of Self-regulated Learning form and the questionnaire about basic nursing teaching effect evaluation. The statistical data was analyzed by SPSS17.0.Result:1. The study found that the two groups shows significant difference in the performance of intramuscular injection, venous transfusion and catheterization skills (t=11.572p=0.000, t=5.511p=0.000, t=8.041p=0.000)2. The statistical assessment found that with respect to their theoretical achievement, the experimental nursing students achieves higher grade in total score, A2and A3/A4question as well as the case analysis, showing great difference.3. The statistical assessment found that there’s great difference in the total test score of competencies of self-regulated learning and score of various factors between the two groups after intervened. After the comparison among these two groups, t values respectively5.496,3.099,3.043and4.969, and all p<0.05.4. After the experiment, the experimental nursing students achieves higher total score of WGCTA than that of control group with the difference is of statistical significance (t=10.127, p=0.000). Furthermore, the experimental groups achieves higher score in reasoning, assumption recognition, deductionand discussion with the difference is of statistical significance (t=8.994p=0.000, t=5.237p=0.000, t=5.631p=0.000, t=6.537p=0.000).5. The study reveals that the experimental students achieves significant improvement in cognitive field, emotional field, spiritual movement field and other aspects after receiving the action-oriented teaching. Except for that the students of both groups spend more time in learning emotional field and scores on the fitness of courseware cognition level shows no statistical difference (p>0.05), the students of experimental group performance better in cognition field, emotional field and spiritual movement field than the control group, showing great difference (p<0.05). The final result demonstrates that the action-oriented teaching is more appreciated than the traditional teaching by students.Conclusion:1. In the basic nursing class, the action-oriented teaching complies with the requirement on the reform and development of vocational nursing education, and can satisfy country’s need on senior nursing experts.2. The action-oriented teaching is more conducive to students in mastering the operating skills during the basic nursing teaching.3. The action-oriented teaching is better in increasing students’ learning interest and enthusiasm on the basic nursing.4. The action-oriented teaching can develop students’comprehensive abilities effectively.5. The action-oriented teaching can facilitate teachers to change their teaching idea, urging them to apply new ideas in teaching model, teaching content, teaching method, curriculum design and other aspects in order to receive better teaching effect.6. It is proved practically again that the action-oriented teaching is a flexible vocational teaching model with complementary advantages, which is worth of popularization and application in vocational schools.
