With the rapid development of the railway passenger transportation industry in our country, many new railway passenger stations have been built. Compared to the existing terminals, the new ones have taken place great changes on the function and structure. The new passenger station is an integrated hub for long distance transportation, urban railway system and suburban railway system. They have beautiful external styling, novel structure, and high personnel density, which raise a claim for the capability of fire-fighting equipment. Therefore, in order to consolidate the secure environment and ensure the stations’safe operation, it is significant to realize its general level of fire-fighting equipment, find out the weaknesses and take the necessary measures.On the basis of Fire Safety Engineering, Systems Theory and Uncertain Mathematics, the paper assesses the capability of fire-fighting equipment of railway station. The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1) On the basis of analyzing the overseas and domestic research status, the paper analyzes several frequently-used methods, points out their merit and demerit, and proposes the assessment method for uncertain linguistic-multiple attribute problem. The paper establishes the evaluation model of the method. Firstly, the thesis sets up a linguistic estimation matrix, and changes the matrix to a triangular fuzzy number matrix by triangular fuzzy transformation. Secondly, based on the minimum distance between evaluation value and ideal point, an optimization model is established. Then the paper solves the attribute weight vector through the model. Finally, the paper calculates the integrated properties evaluation of the object by the linguistic estimation matrix and attribute weight vector.(2) The paper defines the concept of capability of fire-fighting equipment, and establishes the multi-layered evaluation attributes, which reflects the capability of fire-fighting equipment of railway station. Due to the fuzziness of attribute, the paper quantizes the attributes by uncertain linguistic variable.(3) The paper carries out an overall assessment of the station’s fire-fighting facilities by the evaluation model. The case proves the model is feasible, which can solve the multi-attribute fuzzy problem. From the assessment result, the paper diagnoses the station’s major defect on fire-fighting facilities and proposes corresponding proposals for improving its capability of fire-fighting equipment.
